Theatres to re – release Theri 365 days rather than New Film release
Previously Actor fans get a few occasion like Movie release of their idol, Birthday of their idol etc alone to celebrate. But now the scenario has changed. Fans are celebrating milestones of each films like 100thday, 150thday, 50cr, 100cr Box office collection. Not even that they are celebrating each Year milestone of previously released movies. During each anniversary of old movies fans are re – releasing the movies in a grand manner. Even for other Festival days they will re – release Films
In the upcoming Tamil New Year Festival weekend 3 promising movies are planned for release. Theatre owners are breaking their heads to decide the slots for the new releases. But remember Vijay’s ‘Theri’ hit the worldwide screens on April 14, 2016 and now Vijay Fans are pressurizing theatre owners to screen a special show of their favorite idol that is to release Theri again to enjoy the FDFS experience after its 365 days.
For Ilayathalapathy Vijay fans, April 14 is not only the Tamil New Year festival but also first years anniversary of blockbuster ‘Theri’ and thus Vijay fans are eager to celebrate the day in a grand manner. Thus Theatre owners are pressurized by Vijay fans to screen Vijay’s Theri film(a special show) as April 14th marks the first year anniversary of Theri and it has been 365 days – one year completion of Theri.
Theaters in Chennai and other places of Tamil Nadu will be screening ‘Theri’ on April 14th which also see three new Tamil releases. What is surprising is these theatres have assigned their main screens for Theri instead of new big releases. A movie hall in Porur, Chennai will be screening the special morning show of ‘Theri’ at 8 AM on April 14. GK Cinemas and Rohini have already allotted early morning shows for Theri due to excessive pressure from Vijay fans. Another theater in Koyambedu earlier scheduled one special show but now due to humongous rush for tickets among Vijay fans the number of shows for ‘Theri’ has been increased to three in that theater.
Ruban Mathivanan, Managing Director of GK Cinemas, says that “We always get a demand from Vijay fans whenever there is a festival. This time again for Theri’s 365 days, we have been getting some enormous pressure from fans. It goes on to prove Vijay is the indisputable king when it comes to the box office. So we have decided to give the main screen’s first show for Theri since we feel it will entice more crowd for an 8 AM show than the other new releases.”
